 A few words from Cecilia...

'Singing is a very personal thing and I am always very sensitive to this. I work from a place of encouragement, enthusiasm and discipline, but aim to make all lessons relaxing and fun! I love seeing my students thrive, improve and find a life-long love of singing. I believe singing is a gift within all of us, but often it has been shut away for a long time – it's often my job to help unlock the singing voice, to increase confidence and develop and release full singing potential! I believe wholeheartedly that every voice should be celebrated - to truly find your voice is paramount on any singing journey of discovery. Imitation can be helpful, but it has a limited lifespan – a voice truly found lasts a lifetime - it's my great privilege to help you to find your unique voice'.

Cecilia's musical background...

Here are some frequently asked questions you may have for Cecilia...

What kind of a singing teacher are you?

As a versatile professional singer, I am able to offer something a little different to more 'traditional' singing teachers. Whether you are simply wishing to develop confidence and technique in your voice for enjoyment or wish to prepare for music auditions or gigs, I will work with you to realise your singing aspirations and potential. If you simply wish to sing for pleasure, it would be my absolute pleasure to help you to realise this. I go out of my way to ensure that I am always very flexible and approachable and that my singing lessons are truly enjoyable.

What styles do you teach? I works within a large range of styles including Pop, R&B, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Folk and Classical. Lessons are individually tailored to your needs and tastes.
I'm a complete beginner, is that okay? Yes, that's fine. I love teaching all ages and abilities – I am as happy teaching complete beginners, as I am semi-professional singers.
How does a lesson work? Typically a lesson starts with a gentle vocal warm up and then we may work on a technical aspect of your voice that still needs some development. Then, we get stuck into repertoire – either songs of your choice (or I can guide you and suggest ideas) or original songwriting.
How long is a lesson? A lesson is typically an hour for adults. I reccommend 45 minutes for children under 16 and 30 minutes for younger children. If you are after a weekly lesson, 45 minutes may be ideal.
Do you teach songwriting? Yes I able to offer songwriting support to budding songwriters – I am a published songwriter and credits include television world-wide (including BBC TV).
What about gigs? I can coach and prepare you for gigs, but you will need to book them yourself. Sometimes I host singing evenings for my students - you would be very welcome to participate, but without any pressure!
Can you help me prepare for an audition? Yes, over the years I have helped many of my students prepare for music auditions. Several of my students have gone on to study for music degrees and have a career in the music industry.
